Dear Technology Transfer Office:
Thank you very much for participating in the pilot survey for UAEM's Access Metrics Initiative!
The following survey seeks to gather your collective knowledge on the successful implementation of access policies and provisions in technology transfer. UAEM recognizes that access provisions must be as diverse and varied as the invention disclosures that come to your attention. While no particular access strategy is suitable under all circumstances, UAEM hopes to raise awareness of those strategies that have proven successful. It is our hope that the Access Metrics Initiative may foster collective implementation of access provisions in licenses by sharing knowledge across technology transfer offices.
The Access Metrics Initiative is focused on university-derived technologies that impact human health, particularly technologies classified as diagnostics, prophylactics, therapeutics, and medical devices. This first-stage survey requests readily available information and does not create an extensive reporting burden. All information provided to UAEM is hosted on servers in compliance with US Department of Commerce and EU Commission Safe Harbor data security requirements. In the future and with your help, the Access Metrics Initiative survey will expand to include additional information regarding access policies and practices.
