Our mission: We want to make online research and data collection as easy, painless, and powerful as possible.
Having used online tools like Mechanical Turk and survey tools ourselves, as well as writing in-lab programs using tools like Matlab and PsyScope, we are dissatisfied with what is available. We would like to do better! But we need your help to build a better tool.
Our vision:
- Researchers will post experiments or tasks and recruit participants from a large pool of people eager to do work for pay (or other rewards).
- Researchers will be able to specify the demographics that they need ahead of time, so that, e.g., only native English speakers even see the experiments intended exclusively for them, and the appropriate populations can receive targeted advertisements about studies.
- Researchers will be able to choose between several templates that are powerful, easy to use, and fit most experimental design needs -- or program their own experiments and customize them as much as they like
- Researchers will be able to easily present many formats of stimuli and collect many kinds of data
- Participants will be tracked anonymously by ID so that researchers can see which people have participated in which studies already, and what their reputation is, and selectively recruit or disallow participation
- Online payment of participants will be easy and can be done by individuals or laboratory/insitution/business accounts
We are currently gathering our own data to try to better understand how we can make this tool most useful to researchers. If you are interested in doing research online, we'd love to have your input.
