COUNTER Consumer Survey
Thank you for choosing to participate in the COUNTER consumer survey. This survey is about buying counterfeit goods (e.g., DVDs, CDs, computer games, luxury goods etc.) and illegally downloading files (e.g., films and music tracks) from the Internet.
The study is being conducted by researchers from the Cyberspace Research Unit, University of Central Lancashire, Preston as part of the European Commission-funded COUNTER Project (see
http://www.counter2010.org for more information).
Filling in this questionnaire is voluntary and will take up to 20 minutes to complete.
Your answers are anonymous and confidential and it will not be possible to identify your individual responses when the data is collected, analysed and reported.
To ensure security, privacy and anonymity, your IP address is not recorded and your responses are encrypted* to guarantee only the research team can view them. The survey is conducted using software by SurveyGizmo (
www.surveygizmo.com) - SurveyGizmo will not retain copies of your responses nor will they use them for commercial purposes.
The responses you provide during this survey will be saved automatically as you progress through each set of questions. However, you can withdraw your participation at any point during the survey by closing your browser window and your responses to that point will be excluded from the dataset.
You will be able to revisit previous responses and questions by using the 'Back' button and while responses to some questions are required (marked with a star), you are free to complete as many of the non-required questions as you wish.
Once you select the 'Finished' button at the end of the survey it will not be possible to withdraw your data because individual responses are anonymous and cannot be identified.
The study data will be stored securely in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act and only the project researchers will have access to it. The overall results from the questionnaire will be included in a series of reports for the European Commission, academic publications, conference presentations and used for teaching purposes.
If you have any queries regarding the study, please feel free to
